One of the main objectives of Tehreek – e – Adab is to bring into light the contributions of Urdu writers living abroad, far away from the Urdu world – The Indian Sub – continent and attract the attention of noted Urdu writers and critics for critical analysis and appraisal of their works. Even a single work of art in any genre of Urdu literature including poetry, fiction, drama or criticism etc. worthy to be appreciated is given its due share in Tehreek – e – Adab. Special numbers dedicated to particular authors and writers are published to establish the literary stature of the writers in the world of Urdu literature besides facilitating the researchers to benefit from these compendiums and anthologies.
Tehreek-e-Adab a non – governmental international Urdu journal was first published in 2008 and it is considered one of the best among those published quarterly. This is the only journal of Urdu which has given a substantial platform to the writers, poets and students of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and highlighted their significant contribution to variegated genres of Urdu literature and also published special numbers and dedicated corners for them. Many a literateurs in J&K who because of their preoccupation or personal, social and professional engagements were in a state of dormancy with respect to their creative output also got attracted and stimulated by Tehreek – e Adab to seriously contribute in their respective domains of Urdu literature. A prominent name in this regard is renowned fiction writer Wehshi – Sayed from Kashmir. Whose own Urdu journal Nageena – International was restarted by the efforts of Tehreek-e- Adab.
In the similar fashion Tehreek-e-Adab highlighted the remarkable contribution of reputed literary body Dabistan-e-Himala engaged in promotion of Urdu and other languages for ages together under the aegis of Himalayan Education Mission Society Rajouri J&K, and introduced it at international level also.
Tehreek-e-Adab has the credit of republishing the articles from “Dhanak” a leading Urdu journal of the 70’s known among the learned circles of the time as a trend setter and a champion of Modern Urdu writing edited by the founder patron of the Himalayan Education Mission Society Rajouri and a literateur of great fame Jb. Mohd Farooq Muztar hailing from border hilly Peer Panchal region of J&K.
Tehreek-e-Adab has also published special numbers and dedicated corners for the writers from outside India which prominently include Parveen Sher (Initially settled in Canada but now in U.S.A), Naqshbandi Qamar Naqvi Bhopali (U.S.A), Dr. Buland Iqbal (Canada), Yaqoob Tasawwar (Abu Dhabi), Aslam Emadi (Kuwait Dr. Zubair Farooq Arshi (Dubai), Prof. (Dr.) Abdul Qadir Farooqi (U.S.A), Hameeda Moeen Rizvi (U.K), Prof. Shameem Aleem(U.K), Mujeeb Ahmed Khan (Saudi Arabia).

In this ten years journey Tehreek-e-Adab scaled heights and earned credibility among the learned circles and published 45 issues so far, and also attained ISSN 2322-0341, besides getting approved by UGC among the recognized approved journals.
